For me painting is a continual battle between light, color and shape. As I work through a painting it becomes a series of addition and subtraction which all contribute to the finished work. I do not think of my paintings necessarily as realism but as a fractured reality. Moreover my paintings become an emotional response to what I am seeing. The subject matter of my work is varied depending on what I feel passionate about during a particular space of time. I am especially drawn to subjects that portray humanity moreover images that allow the viewer to connect on a human level.
